10 January, Strasbourg – The European Court of Human Rights will hold a Grand Chamber hearing in the case Pindo Mulla v. Spain (9.15 am).
The case concerns transfusions administered to the applicant, a Jehovah’s Witness, against her will.

10 January, Strasbourg – The Council of Europe’s anti-corruption body (GRECO) will publish a report evaluating the measures taken by Portugal to prevent corruption and promote integrity in the top executive functions of the central government and in the law enforcement agencies.

11 December, Strasbourg – The European Court of Human Rights will notify in writing 40 judgments and/or decisions concerning Albania, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, France, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland and Ukraine.

11-12 January, Helsinki – The Parliamentary Assembly (PACE), in co-operation with the Parliament of Finland, will organise several round tables in the framework of the “Helsinki Dialogue”, bringing together Belarusian democratic forces, civil society, and journalists, as well as parliamentarians from Council of Europe member states. The event will look at different ways to support initiatives for a democratic future for Belarus. Discussions will include a focus on the security landscape in the region, the threats to Belarusian independence and national identity, the situation of political prisoners, strategies supporting the Belarusian democratic forces, and electoral matters. Elina Valtonen, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Finland, and Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, leader of the Belarusian democratic forces, will open the event.

11-12 janvier, Helsinki – L’Assemblée parlementaire (APCE), en coopération avec le Parlement finlandais, organisera plusieurs tables rondes dans le cadre du « Dialogue d’Helsinki », réunissant les forces démocratiques du Bélarus, la société civile et des journalistes, ainsi que des parlementaires des États membres du Conseil de l’Europe. Cet événement traitera des différents moyens visant à soutenir les initiatives pour un avenir démocratique au Bélarus. Les discussions porteront sur le paysage sécuritaire dans la région, les menaces pesant sur l’indépendance et l’identité nationale du Bélarus, la situation des prisonnières et prisonniers politiques, les stratégies de soutien aux forces démocratiques du Bélarus, et les questions électorales. Elina Valtonen, ministre des Affaires étrangères de Finlande, et Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, leader des forces démocratiques biélorusses, ouvriront l’événement.
